Kinoclub #53: Erik of het klein insectenboek2004

There’s a buzz in the air at KASKcinema. Together with Kinoautomat, we’re shrinking down to pocket size for this irresistibly charming Belgian-Dutch childhood classic.

Like a worm in an apple, Erik of het klein insectenboek has burrowed its way into the hearts of an entire generation. Based on the famous book by Godfried Bomans, we follow Erik, who is transported into the world of insects whilst visiting his grandfather. There, he becomes acquainted with a biotope – complete with rich Dutch accents – that will change his life forever.

Adorned with magnificent costumes, craft-tastic special effects and voluptuous ants, Erik of het klein insectenboek is the child-friendly precursor to Isabella Rossellini’s Green Porno. However, what starts as an evening of light-hearted nostalgia turns out to be a hive of natural history knowledge, thanks to our guest speaker, who guides you through the quirks, kinks and peculiarities of a whole host of creatures.

This screening will be introduced by biologist Merel Janquart.
